So, I've been writing a 15 page project proposal at work, which has taken all of my "during the day" time, and working my wee little bum off in the basement at night, which has taken all of my "free" time. I have notes from comic-con towards a post, which mirrors Jason's, but I haven't had time to type them up yet. Right now, I'm playing through the demos available on the playstation store to get a feel for what's out or coming out for the PS3. So far, I've had mixed feelings about Conan and been unthrilled by Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Heavenly Sword. I'm off to try out Uncharted now.

wondering aloud who it is at BGSU that still checks this and my work blog. I mean, to my knowledge there are only half a dozen or so people that it could be. Whoever it is, own up to it and email me at my first name at outlaweditor dot com.

I Am A: True Neutral Human Bard (4th Level)
Ability Scores:
Strength-13
Dexterity-16
Constitution-17
Intelligence-17
Wisdom-18
Charisma-15
Alignment:
True Neutral A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. Some true neutral characters, on the other hand, commit themselves philosophically to neutrality. They see good, evil, law, and chaos as prejudices and dangerous extremes. They advocate the middle way of neutrality as the best, most balanced road in the long run. True neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you act naturally, without prejudice or compulsion. However, true neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it represents apathy, indifference, and a lack of conviction.
Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.
Class:
Bards often serve as negotiators, messengers, scouts, and spies. They love to accompany heroes (and villains) to witness heroic (or villainous) deeds firsthand, since a bard who can tell a story from personal experience earns renown among his fellows. A bard casts arcane spells without any advance preparation, much like a sorcerer. Bards also share some specialized skills with rogues, and their knowledge of item lore is nearly unmatched. A high Charisma score allows a bard to cast high-level spells.

Happy birthday, Beccee!
So, I found out Thursday night that at 8 am on Saturday I had to have my apartment packed and my furniture moved so that they could have someone come in to replace the flooring and wallpaper in my apartment - and that, during this, it would be my job to move furniture and do whatever else needed doing aside from actually putting up wallpaper or laying flooring. Plus, I still had to work all day Friday and Saturday afternoon. That sucked.
Amusingly, I just discovered that the dude wallpapered over a bug that was crawling on my wall (at least it got killed in the process). I can see it through the wallpaper as a gray bump. It was crunchy when I pressed on it.
My apartment is mostly put back together, now.

This could easily have been called "Ten Things I Wish My Father Had Taught Me, Instead of Forcing Me to Learn By Myself." I would have said "child," but some of them are boy-specific, so ...( I wax pathetic )

Rough week, just wanted to tell Mike happy birthday.
I'll try to have something to say over teh weekend.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but I have THREE TIMES the news today.
Let's just start with the most important - Korea got "Transformers" on Thursday, and I saw it tonight. I'm not going to tell you *anything* about it, except that I don't think you'll feel your childhoods were raped. I certainly didn't.
Other than that, I went out to eat twice on Thursday, got home late, and didn't have a chance to update. I'm going out again on Saturday. I picked up some new cds, including one by a Korean indie rock band called "Donawhale" that I kinda like. I guess it's kinda like ... what? ... I guess I can't think of anything.
hugs, and all that.

Ya know, I was just listening to a couple of tracks from this band that I really like when I realized that, most likely, none of you have ever *heard* of them. Which is really sad, because they're really good - they're just Japanese, which makes it more difficult to find their albums in the States (and before anyone accuses me of feeling special because I live in Asia, I'll remind you all that I was listening to this band and many others long before I came to Korea - so there).
Anyway, they're called Ellegarden, and I first heard them covering a pillows song on the tribute album "Synchronized Rockers" - which is an awesome album in and of itself, combining really awesome Japanese bands with the amazing library of pillows songs and .. ya know, I'll let that go. Anyway, they're really good, and if you were to listen to the new songs they've produced (which are mostly in English, ahead of their first US tour) you'd think they were from somewhere on the East coast - their singer's English is so perfect it almost makes me weep for my students.
As someone who has spend the last year working with Asian kids who want to learn English, all I can tell you is that these guys are more fluent than the Koreans who *teach* at my school. It's just amazing.
Plus, they rock.
So, my holy mission of the day: overcrowd your friends pages, and point you towards five Japanese bands I think you should listen to.
1. the pillows - seriously, there's a reason they're my favorite band. I'm going to see them in Hiroshima while I'm in Japan, and it's probably the thing I'm most excited about at the moment.
2. Ellegarden - there are other bands that are probably better, but their English songs are really accessible and their pop melodies are pretty similar to US stuff.
3. Hummingbird/Fire Bomber - this is from the soundtrack of one of the Macross animes, and it's very late 80's early 90's, but it's still pretty good.
4. Orange Range - they're weird, they're wacky, and their albums seem a little hit-and-miss for me. But when they rock a song well (Natural Pop, Asterisk, etc.) it really rocks. They had a song on the first Fantastic Four soundtrack. Kimikura, I think?
5. Bump of Chicken or Going Under Ground - both solid bands. BoC is a little more indie, GUG is a lot more rock and roll. They're both a lot of fun. BoC gets a slightly deeper nod from me, both because they covered my favorite pillows song on Synchronized Rocks and because they have a song called (I think) "Ichiban Hajino" which is awesomely up-tempo and kinda adorable in a Japanese Mike Doughty sort of way.

So, I'm going out tonight for one of the other teachers' birthday parties. And I'm totally trying out my new and improved meez thingies. Which will probably last until I get bored and whip out Maya to try and make my own.
On the off chance that any of you care, I'm moving my photos from webshots to flickr. Webshots finally reached critical mass in their suckage after they informed me that I couldn't even back my images up without deleting them - I was only allowed one album, since my paid membership had expired. That arrogant treatment of my images as if they were somehow *theirs* irritated me enough that I not only backed up all of my images, deleted them off the server, and opened a flickr account, I also did so in one go (which, given the excruciating process, took over an hour). So, in a couple of days, I'll have my photos on a new home (all 400-500 of them, I hope). In the meantime, you're out of luck if you want to see my pink guitar.
Pillows tickets go on sale. If I were in Japan, I'd be buying them in a couple of hours. As I'm not, I'm leaving it to Kristen! ;-P
Today was a random day off - which I loved. Slept in, did some laundry, cleaned a bit - I need to take out the trash and the recycling in the morning - and basically did my thing. It was nice. So, now I'm gonna hit the sack and do my sleepy thing and then ... get up and do my working thing.
Another blissful day in the life of a raven.
ps - Vered is officially a beauty these days. Not that she wasn't before, but in Tim's pics from the wedding she was at a whole new level.
pps - I scrubbed me some bathroom floor today. boos.

So, I rewatched the season finale of "How I Met Your Mother," and it is still as good as I thought it was the first time. I'm not going to get into it, because I hope other peoples are watching as well and I wouldn't want to spoil anything for those of us who live on the other side of the world (and have to get it from friends back home). Or those who missed it last week. But I will say that perhaps the best ending this season was Barney's "It's going to be legen - wait for it ...". It is a play on his catch phrase "it'll be legen - wait for it - dary!" and also a wonderful way to turn that into an appeal to the audience: "wait for it." I know that I am, and that it hurts me that it will be months before the show starts again.
